Renovation of the Relais & Châteaux hotel La Briqueterie & Spa
01 THE OPPORTUNITY
Beauvallon Collection, which is developing a range of boutique hotels at the heart of the finest tourist destinations in France and southern Europe, has once again chosen Cushman & Wakefield Design + Build to renovate the 5-star Hostellerie La Briqueterie and Spa in Vinay, not far from Épernay. This decision follows their successful collaboration in 2019 on the renovation of the 5-star Hostellerie Cèdre et Spa in Beaune, classified as a Relais et Châteaux since 2006.
The major challenge of this new project was the strict 3-month deadline. Acquired in September 2023, the Relais & Châteaux was to undergo a complete renovation of all the rooms, communal areas, reception, bar, restaurant and spa, in order to position this legendary address as a truly personalised experience. The aim was to reopen half of the 40 rooms and suites by the Easter weekend of 2024, and the other half at the beginning of May. To meet these deadlines, Beauvallon Collection decided to entrust all the work to a single general contractor: Cushman & Wakefield Design + Build.
02 The Solution
Cushman & Wakefield Design + Build mobilised a team of some forty experienced journeymen working in close collaboration with the owner and the project architect, Marie Courdouan. In her words, "the strength of Cushman & Wakefield is the strength of its teams. They're committed and qualified, and that's a real strength, without which I wouldn't be able to complete a project in such a short space of time. They've done an incredible job, because there are a lot of special features to the Beaune project.
As each room is unique in terms of size and décor, Cushman & Wakefield Design + Build had to adapt by setting up an in-house team of 2 architects for 3 months to produce the detailed plans. The site was managed by two experienced site managers, who stayed on site with part of the team to optimise time and maximise efficiency.
As on its other projects, Cushman & Wakefield Design + Build used local and national contractors. This network enabled the team to remain flexible and agile, and to meet the very high-quality standards required for a hotel of this standing.
03 THE RESULTS
The success of this operation, described as a real "amazing feat", lies in the fact that it was completed on time and on budget, while guaranteeing exceptional quality. The hotel was able to open its doors for the spring holidays as planned.
According to Amaury Rostagnat, CEO of Beauvallon Collection and owner of Hostellerie Briqueterie et Spa, Relais et Châteaux: "The initial feedback we've had from our customers has been very satisfactory, and that's what counts for us (...) It's highly likely that we'll want to continue working with Cushman & Wakefield Design + Build on future projects".
