Cushman & wakefield announces asia pacific research leadership appointments test

Cushman & Wakefield, a global leader in commercial real estate services, has announced two Asia Pacific research leadership appointments. James Shepherd will take on the role of Head of Research for Asia Pacific, and Dr. Dominic Brown will take on the role of Head of Insight and Analysis for Asia Pacific.

James has been with Cushman & Wakefield since 2014 and is a seasoned real estate professional with over 20 years of industry experience, most recently as Managing Director, Research for Greater China.

Based in Shanghai, James is responsible for managing a team of over 100 research professionals across Asia Pacific to deliver cutting-edge research publications, while engaging with and supporting our valued clients with in-depth analysis and insight into regional real estate matters.

During his career in Asia, James has served as a consultant and/or valuer to investors such as: Ascott, Aviva, ARA, Barings, CapitaLand, Coca Cola, Citic Capital, Credit Suisse, GIC, Hines, ING Real Estate, JP Morgan, OCBC, Macquarie, Mapletree, Morgan Stanley, PAG, Standard Chartered Bank, Swire and Warburg Pincus.

Under James’ leadership, Cushman & Wakefield’s Greater China Research has been recognized for excellence by such esteemed industry bodies as the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) and Euromoney magazine, winning honors from both for the last three consecutive years. In recent years, James was appointed to the China board of the RICS as well as Cushman & Wakefield’s Greater China Executive Committee. 

Dr. Dominic Brown, Head of Insight & Analysis, Asia Pacific

In this newly-created role, Dominic will lead Cushman & Wakefield’s thought leadership research for the region to help drive client engagement and grow the business. Dominic has been with Cushman & Wakefield for more than eight years in a number of senior research positions.

Dominic has been involved in demographic and urban analysis for over 15 years and over the course of his career he has undertaken a diverse range of property studies including: market research and insight, thought leadership, residential need assessments, centre network strategies, industrial land demand studies and strategic economic development opportunity studies. He has also given evidence before the Planning and Environment Court of Queensland as an independent expert witness.

Dominic has an extensive academic background with an Honours degree and a PhD in Quantitative Demography. He has a number of peer reviewed publications to his name and is a frequent speaker at professional conferences. He is also an Adjunct Associate Professor to the School of Geography, Planning and Environmental Management at the University of Queensland where he regularly appears as a guest lecturer and provides input into a range of on-going research projects.
