It is said that the moon is the brightest and roundest on the Mid-Autumn day. Also known as the Full-Moon Festival, this day is one of the most important holidays for many Asian countries and Vietnam is not an exception.
In the spirit of this special day, the Cushman & Wakefield team decided to revisit Maison Chance, the “lucky home” for the unfortunate. The team visited the facility in 2022, hosting a competition for little artists to win scholarships with their talents. Their artworks were made into umbrellas, notebooks and many more collaterals which was designed to carry the story of Maison Chance far and wide.

This year, our team of 20 people arrived at Maison Chance on a rainy morning of mid-September. The day started as we trekked across the forest for about 10km roundway to reach the DraySap and Dray Nur waterfalls. Far from the dense air of the city, we lounged and ate ice cream on the water banks as the morning passed by.

After lunch and an hour of rest, the team regrouped to start packing gifts and preparing for the Mid-Autumn Festival party in the evening. We also visited each classroom to greet the little students during their break time, took a tour around the facility to see the vocational training center with computers for IT and graphic design students, sewing rooms, perfumed oil extract room, art room and many more. These training rooms are tailored-made for people with disabilities who want to learn a skill, many adult students have graduated and went on to live an independent life outside the home.

When the clock struck 6 in the evening, our team gathered at the dining hall to welcome over 250 children of all ages to join the Mid-Autumn festival program. We were treated to wonderful performances from the little artists, singing, dancing and even Lion dancing to the drum beat. The hall erupted in cheers at the end of each performance. Between the acts, our team joined the children in explosively fun games of quizzes, racing and musical chairs.

It’s hard to say goodbye, and we always leave a piece of our heart in Maison Chance each time we depart. But the memory will be carried with our team everywhere we go, in the letters and artworks we received from the children, the umbrellas we use in the rain and the story we continue to share to our clients, partners and colleagues around the globe.
