Maersk Vietnam: Finding its ‘Zen’

Maersk Vietnam is the first 100% foreign-owned company in Vietnam's logistics industry. Its head office is in Ho Chi Minh City while its branch offices are in Hanoi, Hai Phong, Da Nang, Qui Nhon, and Phnom Penh. 

In 2013, Maersk wanted to relocate its Vietnam headquarters to a new office. Hence, it appointed Cushman & Wakefield to create a relocation strategy. The strategy needed to be cost-efficient and should consider Maersk's long-term growth plans. 

Besides formulating strategy, Cushman & Wakefield also represented Maersk in negotiations with the landlord.

Cushman & Wakefield shortlisted properties based on budget, location, and management. Our team then negotiated with shortlisted offices in both the Central Business District (CBD) and CBD Fringe.

To shorten the process, we decided to focus our efforts on the option with the greatest potential—Zen Plaza.

Maersk sealed the deal for Zen Plaza, an office in the CBD with floor plate efficiency.

Cushman & Wakefield's long-standing relationship with the landlord facilitated efficient and effective negotiations. As a result, Maersk enjoyed a competitive rental rate and flexible lease terms as well.

Three months after, Maersk has occupied the 3rd, 4th, and 5th floors of Zen Plaza. Today, Maersk is one of the anchor tenants in Zen Plaza.
