Since March 2020, Law No. 17,336 has made charging stations mandatory in all new residential or commercial buildings built in the city of São Paulo.
For Cushman & Wakefield, far beyond following requirements, promoting sustainable and innovative initiatives is in its DNA. That is why supporting the development of electric mobility in Brazil has been one of the aspects of the condominiums it manages.
Condominiums such as WT Morumbi and CENU have experienced this in practice
At WT Morumbi, there are fifteen parking spaces with a charging terminal for electric vehicles, some installed by the condominium itself and others in partnership with the occupant Audi, which makes most of them available for common use, without charging a fee.
Ronaldo Mazarotto, Operation Manager, says that in 2019 the condominium acquired three chargers of its own. With the arrival of the pandemic, there was little use, but with the return of face-to-face work, demand gradually increased: ‘‘we partnered with Audi, one of the occupants of the development, to increase the number of chargers. The new charging stations will be distributed over the five floors of WT Morumbi’’ he says.
He says that he has already noticed the need for more chargers and that currently all chargers are used practically all the time. At this time, the condominium is evaluating options for expansion.
At the United Nations Business Center - CENU, the scenario is similar. Patrícia Bueno, Operation Manager, says that the need arose from one of the occupants of the condominium and the number of charging terminals grew in line with demand.
Today, the seven chargers for electric vehicles are the result of a partnership with Porsche, in addition to the company Estapar, and are available for common use, free of charge: ''Today we have a large volume of users, as we also serve guests and visitors to the Hilton hotel and also those who go to Shopping Nações Unidas,'' he says.
Patrícia also highlights low energy consumption, which makes this type of initiative very interesting: ‘‘in addition to charging terminals, we also have Beep Beep at CENU, which rents electric vehicles. The company has its own charging terminals’’, he explains.
And it's not just in São Paulo that Cushman & Wakefield has been supporting electric mobility. In Florianópolis, Square SC - the city's main business center and the largest multipurpose complex in the south of the country - inaugurated in 2022 the Electroposto Celesc Square SC, the only one in the city, as explained by Celso Reffatti, Portfolio Manager at Cushman & Wakefield: '' Electroposto is available to any Square SC user free of charge. It is a totally self-sustainable initiative, where all the energy supplied is supplied by the condominium's own photovoltaic power plant'', he comments.
Stela Hirata, Director of Property Management, says that as a global leader, Cushman & Wakefield has pioneering spirit and innovation in its DNA, in addition to engaging its clients in sustainable causes as one of its main pillars.
