Cushman & Wakefield has new executive management in Brazil

4/14/2023

Recently, Cushman & Wakefield presented its new leadership in South America. Herman Faigenbaum assumed the position of CEO of the region, and, together with him, the company appointed the new formation of the Executive Board in Brazil, which will have two General Directors: Daniel Battistella, responsible for the CRE area, and Matheus Cardoso, who will manage the Operations and GOS areas.

Find out who the new executive directors are and what they think about Cushman & Wakefield's activities in South America.

Daniel Battistella
Now Brazil CRE Managing Director of Cushman & Wakefield, Battistella has been with the company for 15 years. He joined the Tenant Representation team in 2008. He expanded his responsibilities over the years and, in 2015, became Director of Tenant Representation in Brazil. Now he will manage the business areas: Valuations & Advisory, Property Management and Brokerage (Representation of Tenants and Agency Leasing) and the areas of Market Research and Marketing.

Regarding strategies to expand business and grow Cushman & Wakefield's transactions in Brazil, Daniel is categorical in saying that he aims for growth, regardless of whether the market is up or down. For him, it is important to contextualize that the real estate market is cyclical and should be read in a sectorized way, also looking at its different segments. This is because sometimes the market is up in the logistics sector, for example, and down in the office segment: ‘‘We don’t have a single strategy for the real estate market, we adopt different strategies according to the moment in each sector. Furthermore, strategy is not something static that is designed in one year and executed in the next. The market is dynamic and sometimes changes direction due to several factors''.

Regarding the external challenges, he says that today many economists bring a diagnosis that we are under a technical recession, in addition to the global change in the way we work, socialize, live, consume and transport ourselves. For him, as a real estate company, Cushman & Wakefield can help its clients, occupants and developers in this journey of rediscovering corporate spaces.

Matheus Cardoso
The new Brazil Operations & GOS Managing Director, Matheus Cardoso, has over 25 years of experience in finance, administration and operations. He joined Cushman & Wakefield almost 9 years ago, when he took over as CFO in 2014. Previously, he worked at various companies such as Pearson plc, Comanche Clean Energy LLC, CAP Agroindustrial and others. He will manage the Facilities Management area, in addition to the back office - Finance and Administration, Human Resources, Legal, Purchasing and IT.

Under his management, the GOS - Services to Global Occupations area, which was for Cushman & Wakefield to be able to offer a high quality service to global companies, and consequently, offers the same high standard to local companies, has two main lines services, IFM (Integrated Facilities Management) and PDS (Project Development Services): ''IFM is in our DNA. We need to remember that Cushman started offering this type of service 28 years ago,'' he recalls.

He says that the GOS area is always in constant evolution, connected to new technologies and new needs, so he will continue adding new services and adapting, but the main thing is to continue providing an excellent service: ''We have many cutting-edge technological solutions to bring from our headquarters to Brazil, and we bet a lot on that too'', he says.

Proximity and integration of the workforce

With the changes, Cushman & Wakefield intends to continue with its entrepreneurial spirit, proximity and creativity, so that the workforce in all the South American countries where the company operates is increasingly closer and more integrated.
