INTRODUCTION

ELEVATING URBAN INCLUSIVITY

The Inclusive Cities Barometer evaluates the inclusiveness of 44 cities across EMEA, including Prague.

Prague, a city with a rich historical heritage, is advancing towards becoming an inclusive urban environment. At the heart of Europe, Prague is committed to fostering diversity, equity, and accessibility for all its residents. While there are areas where Prague can improve, such as enhancing air quality and housing affordability, the city's strides towards inclusivity are commendable.

Through 110 detailed metrics spanning economic, social, spatial, and environmental dimensions, the barometer offers comprehensive insights into each city's inclusiveness. By leveraging over 4,000 data points, it quantifies social impact and guides cities towards greater inclusivity.

THE HIGHLIGHTS

Prague: Advancing Towards Inclusive Urban Excellence

Prague is not just a city; it's a thriving community that welcomes everyone. Its inclusive features attract talent and innovation, leading to continuous investment and growth. By prioritizing inclusivity, Prague enhances its social and economic development and ensures a dynamic urban environment. Strong educational attainment contributes to a robust talent market, but there's room for improvement in areas like air quality and housing affordability.

Economic Inclusivity

Prague's economy thrives with a balance of traditional and entrepreneurial job markets. The city ensures economic vitality through fair wages and low unemployment rates. However, at the national level, the Czech government could improve by fostering greater support for financial services and progressive taxation policies to further enhance wealth redistribution.

Social Inclusivity

Prague promotes equal access to social infrastructure like healthcare, education, and green spaces, ensuring positive outcomes for diverse population groups. High levels of street safety, owing to lower crime rates, further enhance the city's appeal and livability. However, Prague still faces challenges in ensuring sufficient affordable housing to meet the needs of its growing population.

Spatial Inclusivity

Prague enhances quality of life through well-designed public spaces and efficient transportation. The city prioritizes safety with lower crime rates, contributing to a secure urban environment. However, there is still a need for better connectivity between housing and employment locations to support families.

Environmental Inclusivity

Prague is dedicated to sustainability, working to reduce CO2 emissions and improve access to green spaces. However, the city faces challenges with the intensity of individual car traffic and air quality that need urgent municipal attention. Addressing pollution and expanding green infrastructure are crucial steps towards a more environmentally inclusive city.
