During his 20-year real estate career, Rafael has worked for several institutional developers focusing on Industrial Real Estate in Mexico and the US. As the company’s only Sr. Vice President for Verde Realty, Rafael was responsible for opening the Juarez and Tijuana markets in Mexico and directed all leasing and property management operations for a 15 million square foot industrial portfolio in the US and Mexico.

After the sale of the company to Brookfield Asset Management, Rafael was a key participant in the sale of 35 properties totaling 5.7 million square feet in major Mexican markets to FINSA/Walton Street for US $302 million in 2014. While working at Hines, Rafael managed a 51 building Portfolio totaling 5.4 million square feet across several markets in Mexico. In 2017, Rafael led the sale of 27 of the 51 properties totaling 2.9 million square feet to IGS Group.

Rafael has significant experience in the purchase, re-positioning, and disposition of second-generation buildings. During his career he has led the acquisition, refurbishment, stabilization and sale of close to 2.5 Million SF of buildings in Cd. Juarez, Monterrey, and Tijuana. Rafael also has significant personal experience and leading teams pursuing opportunities in speculative development, build-to-suits, acquisitions, dispositions, and leasing. His partial client list includes world class companies such as: Caterpillar, Yazaki, Hubbell, Visteon, Welch Allyn, Suzuki-Garphyttan, Plantronics, and Foxconn.

Rafael has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering from New Mexico State University and a Masters Degree in Business Administration from The Tuck School at Dartmouth College.
