Amsterdam, August 3, 2023 - Cushman & Wakefield has sold the iconic property De Groene Draeck to a consortium of private individuals on behalf of one of its clients.
The skyline-defining building was built in 1954 as a shipyard hall and takes its name from the ship that was presented to Princess Beatrix in 1957 for her 18th birthday. The commercial building is approximately 4,500 m² LFA and is situated on a plot of 3,200 m² of private land. The building is located directly on the banks of the IJ, in the former industrial Buiksloterham in Amsterdam North, and has a wide zoning. The building thus offers a wide variety of (re)development and repositioning possibilities in the long term, including residential use.
Roel Timmermans and Renaldo Thewissen of Cushman & Wakefield on this transaction: "Within the limited circle in which the property was offered, De Groene Draeck could count on a lot of interest - especially from developers. De Groene Draeck is currently well leased and the combination of private land and broad use, which is unique in Amsterdam, makes the property extremely interesting. Despite the challenging market conditions, we see once again that the liquidity of good properties in the right locations remains strong. We are very confident that De Groene Draeck is in good hands with the consortium."
Seller was advised by Cushman & Wakefield, Delissen Warners Tax Advisors and Berger Notariaat. Buyer was advised by Sarfaty Lawyers and HMK Notaries.
