Stockholm 14 May 2020 - In the near future, many people will start returning to the physical office and an everyday life that looks completely different than before the Covid-19 outbreak. Based on experience from most markets in the world, Cushman & Wakefield has developed a concept with concrete tips and guidance aimed at securing the return to the office, including methods for behavioral changes to reduce the risk of infection.
The concept called "6 Feet Office" has been developed by Cushman & Wakefield in the Netherlands and includes tips, guidelines and a checklist that companies can use to plan their return to the office through a controlled, carefully planned and safe approach.
Marie Cronström, Head of Occupier Services says; “The return to the workplace and adjustments in the office premises will vary for each organization, however the principles described in this guide apply to virtually all property owners and tenants. Our concept "6 Feet Office" is a way to make it easier for companies to adapt to a new normal life and where we at Cushman & Wakefield can assist with general guidance as well as with customized solutions for our clients every step of the way. "
"6 Feet Office" is about offering a concept to be able to make an overall analysis of existing premises and to identify points for improvement for a safe return to the office. Examples of this are;
- Movement patterns and routing in the office
- Use of meeting rooms and common areas
- The design of the individual workplace
- Signage
- Rules / Guidelines.
"The Safe Six"
The concept "6 Feet Office" also includes "The Safe Six", which is a checklist that both property owners and tenants can work from and which contains the headings;
- The preparatory building
- Prepare the staff
- Check accessibility to the office premises
- Create a plan for social distancing based on the risk of infection
- Reduce physical contact surfaces and increase cleaning
- Communicate for increased safety.
Marie Cronström says; "This does not have to be difficult, but we feel that many individuals are insecure about returning to the office and this is where we believe the '6 Feet Office' concept can help create security in the business when we return to a new everyday life ahead."
