TORONTO – Cushman & Wakefield (NYSE: CWK) has expanded its Valuation & Advisory team in Canada to include a seniors housing practice with the addition of three experts in the field. Sean McCrorie, Heather Payne and Austin Lennard join Cushman & Wakefield from a competing global commercial real estate firm, where they advised on seniors housing assets across Canada on behalf of the largest and most significant market participants in the Canadian seniors housing and healthcare sectors.
“Sean, Heather and Austin are focused on providing valuable insight to owners, investors and lenders within this asset class,” said Brian Kriter, Executive Managing Director and lead for the firm’s Valuation & Advisory group in Canada. “I am thrilled to have them on board as part of the team, allowing us to expand our practice group specialization and in turn offer our clients industry leading expertise in seniors housing.”
As investors increasingly explore alternative asset classes, the need for advisors who specialize in these verticals has become essential. The team’s move to Cushman & Wakefield’s Valuation & Advisory group deepens and broadens the firm’s expertise, extending to services such as appraisals, valuations of business interests, due diligence for acquisitions, market intelligence and feasibility studies on seniors housing properties across Canada.
“There is no substitute for outstanding talent – especially when dealing with complex properties like seniors housing. This team adds a wealth of experience and expertise that will benefit our clients across the country in a rapidly growing segment of the market,” Chuck Scott, CEO for Cushman & Wakefield in Canada commented.
McCrorie is a CFA Charterholder, Chartered Business Valuator and Accredited Appraiser. Prior to starting his advisory practice at Altus Group and later CBRE, he was part of the corporate development team at Leisureworld Senior Care (now Sienna Senior Living), one of Canada’s largest owners and operators of seniors housing and care properties. Payne is an Accredited Appraiser, who specializes in feasibility studies and appraisals for proposed and existing seniors housing developments, with additional experience in seniors housing land. Before her tenure at CBRE, she appraised a wide range of commercial assets for over 10 years. Over the past six years, Lennard has held increasingly senior roles within the team, providing investment and financial analysis, market research and a wide variety of real estate advisory services to the group’s clients.
Cushman & Wakefield’s global Valuation & Advisory Group consists of approximately 1,970 professionals who provide sophisticated advice on real estate equity and debt decisions to clients on a worldwide scale. The group’s capabilities span valuation and advisory services relating to acquisition, disposition, financing, litigation, and financial reporting. In 2019, the team in Canada completed assignments involving more than 3,000 commercial properties valued at $100 billion.
