After a first semester characterized by a longer delay in decision-making processes, and with a decrease in demand of around 35% in Greater Lisbon and 55% in Greater Porto, the gradual resolution of the pandemic situation had its effects already in the second half of the year, reflecting a recovery in take-up of 15% and 5%, respectively.
According to Carlos Oliveira, partner and head of office agency at Cushman & Wakefield, “Despite a not very dynamic first semester, the sector recovered well in the second half of the year and 2022 shows signs of continued growth. Some fears that remote work would have a very significant negative impact on these numbers have proved to be unfounded. Companies and their employees have adjusted to more flexible or hybrid models in the way of using spaces, but offices continue to have a fundamental importance in the culture, communication and efficiency of companies”.
