Cushman & Wakefield announces that it was responsible for the placement of the Portuguese biotechnology company SilicoLife, in Braga, in a stand-alone space of about 820 sq.m, in response to the company's growth and the need to centralize all its computational and laboratory activities. This is the second life sciences company that the consultancy has assisted in the north of the country, which highlights the attractiveness of this region for the establishment of companies in this segment, as well as the potential that this business activity represents for the office market.
Previously, Cushman & Wakefield had already advised the owner in the occupation of Elementis, a global group operating in the chemical sector, in the leasing of 2,000 sq.m in the heart of Invicta, namely at Porto Business Plaza. Almost fully occupied with exclusive marketing by C&W, Porto Business Plaza currently hosts several leading international companies that make up a community of about 3,500 workers.
This office center with 31,000 sq.m, located 50 meters from the Campo 24 de Agosto metro station, resulted from the conversion of the “Central Shopping” mall and was completely renovated in 2022. It currently has 2,000 sq.m available and an exclusive interior garden of 180 sq.m.
According to Maria João Pinto, Senior Consultant at Cushman & Wakefield: “The northern region has proven to be very attractive for life sciences and biotechnology companies, both national and international. We have seen strong demand from companies in this sector, but the supply has not always kept pace with the dynamism of this market, especially in more central locations. The biggest challenge has been finding spaces that meet the specific requirements of these clients, such as the need for a clean room or a laboratory.”
