As Australia reopens from the COVID-19 pandemic, employment is forecast to grow strongly, however, the normalisation of working from home is expected to reduce the number of workers in the office. At the same time, a reengineering of workplace strategies is creating more open, collaborative workspaces.
The attached paper considers four key drivers of office including:
- The forecast economic rebound;
- An expected 'war-for-talent';
- The rise of remote working; and
- A shift in workplace design where more emphasis is placed on collaborative and amenity space.
The trends are then tested in a range of scenarios to gauge the potential impact on office demand over the next three to five years.
