Brian has provided advisory and valuation services to the hospitality industry for 30 years and leads the Hospitality & Gaming Group at Cushman & Wakefield Ltd. in Canada. His consulting practice includes market and feasibility studies, appraisals, development strategies, litigation support, and other services associated with the tourism and hospitality industries. He has completed projects across Canada and the Caribbean.
Brian brings 35 years of commercial real estate experience and has specialized in the valuation of hospitality assets for 30 years. Brian has completed assignments across a wide range of assets including major downtown hotels, resorts, conference centres, and limited service properties. He has acted for Canadian, Asian, European and US lenders, private owners, publicly traded companies, institutions, and government bodies. Both valuations and studies have been prepared for financing, accounting and regulatory purposes, due diligence, realty tax appeals, and litigation.
Prior to joining Cushman and Wakefield Ltd., Brian was a Senior Managing Partner for CBRE Hotels, a national hotel valuation and advisory group based in Toronto. Prior to this, he was National Managing Director for Colliers International Realty Advisors, overseeing a team of 50 consultants in offices across Canada. Brian began his career in Hospitality valuation and consulting with Laventhol & Horwath, a leading international hotel consulting group.
In addition to his hotel practice, Brian has also served with the Appraisal Institute of Canada in a number of capacities. He chaired a committee which made recommendations leading to significant changes to the Institutes professional practice function. Brian was awarded a Presidential citation for his work in 2003.
Brian completed the Education Program for the Appraisal Institute, receiving his AACI Designation in 1984. Since that time he has completed a number of continuing education programs at the University of Toronto and through various professional organizations including the Appraisal Institute of Canada and the CFA Society.
Brian has prepared and delivered several presentations for the Appraisal Institute of Canada on hospitality valuation and analysis and has lectured at Ryerson University in Toronto on Hotel investment analysis.
