Interest from local and international operators for Brookfield’s latest development at Wynyard Place is already starting to strengthen as Cushman & Wakefield brings forward Sydney CBD’s newest rooftop bar and dining venue to market.
Due for completion in 2020, Brookfield’s 76,000sqm office and retail development will see the 1930’s former home of Shell Oil & Co restored to include two rare hospitality offerings – Shell House Rooftop and Shell House Parkside (ground floor).
Shell House Parkside is located on the ground floor of Shell House and can be leased separately to the rooftop. The venue is highly geared towards sophisticated restaurateurs seeking to benefit from the emerging precinct and the restoration of Wynyard Lane.
With an exclusive laneway entrance, Shell House Rooftop is the jewel of the crown and the first of its kind in Sydney, offering a two level glass pavilion with opportunity for diners to relish in the views over the CBD skyline and the restored Gillet Johnson Clock.
Shell House and the Wynyard Place precinct sits adjacent to Wynyard Station, one of the country’s largest transport exchanges and occupies a key city block along George Street.
With National Australia Bank committing 30,000 sqm as their new premier Sydney address, Wynyard Place is set to transform an area of the city that hundreds of thousands of city workers arrive in, walk through or shop in every day.
Cushman & Wakefield’s National Director of Retail Leasing, Matt Hudson, has been appointed by Brookfield to manage the leasing campaign for the rooftop and ground floor retail space of the historic Shell House, supported by Cushman & Wakefield’s local and international leasing teams.
Commenting on the opportunity, Matt Hudson said: “The New York inspired rooftop bar and dining venue will deliver international sophistication atop the CBD skyline, and presents an exceptionally rare opportunity for leading hospitality groups to secure the private and exclusive enclave.
“We are already experiencing high levels of interest from prominent local hospitality groups and international players looking to gain a foothold in the Sydney hospitality market attracted to such a premiere and notable venue. The existing hotel liquor license is especially unique.”
“We continue to see Sydney operators look to establish rooftop bar areas, and with such limited opportunities, many are retrofitting existing hotel spaces. Unlike many other cities such as Los Angeles, New York and London, Sydney has very limited rooftop bar and dining establishments.”
The expression of interest for both spaces closes 2pm 16th October 2017.
