Chris Pavlis Joins SA Water

03/08/2020

As part of Cushman & Wakefield’s commitment to diversity and inclusion, our SA Water account team engaged with client SA Water to propose and facilitate the employment of a disability support candidate to join the onsite Workplace team at SA Water’s Victoria Square office in Adelaide.

SA Water manages the delivery of water and wastewater services to 1.7 million South Australians, and is one of the larger Corporate Office locations Cushman & Wakefield manages in Adelaide. SA Water was immediately onboard with this initiative, supporting their work towards creating an inclusive team that values diversity in all forms.

Cushman & Wakefield partnered with local disability services and support organisation Barkuma, to help find the best candidate to suit the team and client.

Barkuma is a not-for-profit organisation that provides a range of supports for people with disability. For over 50 years, Barkuma has worked alongside people with disability to find rewarding jobs, learn new skills, explore their talents, and be included in the community. Barkuma provides services to over 800 people, making it one of the leading disability support organisations in South Australia.

Barkuma put forward Christopher Pavlis, who successfully interviewed with the team and was offered the role of Trainee Facilities Assistant.

Christopher was delighted by the news, as this placement is first step into employment, and he was looking forward to meeting the team, learning the ropes and helping support the SA Water operations.

Whilst Covid-19 delayed his commencement, Chris successfully joined the team on Tuesday, 30 June 2020 – bringing a big smile and positive attitude on his first day. Upon completion of day one, Chris was already looking forward to his next working day.

Cushman & Wakefield hiring manager Sophie Bendo-Watson and SA Water Account Director Sam Pickup have received positive client and team feedback regarding Chris, and we look forward to hearing of Chris’ further success in the role.
