The Montinari family, owner of the Hotel President in Lecce, and active in sectors including real estate, finance, hospitality and retail, in Italy and abroad, built and has managed the hotel, an icon of Apulian hospitality, since 1973.
With this operation, the Montinari family confirms its goal of remaining a reference point for the local hotel industry, through a restructuring and relaunching initiative aimed at developing and enhancing its real estate assets.
The hotel will be managed by the Apulian hotel chain Greenblu Hotels & Resort, under the Mercure banner of the Accor international hotel group. Greenblu currently has eight facilities located in the most exclusive locations in Puglia and Basilicata, with a total of 1,200 rooms which make it the leading operator in Southern Italy.
The Hotel President in Lecce, a 4-star structure of 150 units along with services such as restaurant, American bar, banquet rooms, conference centre and garage, will be renovated in line with the international standards of the Mercure brand and those of the Greenblu group. The restyling plan will be launched in October 2021 and will end in early spring 2022, with immediate reopening and rebranding of Mercure Hotels.
Dario Leone, Head of Hospitality in Italy, comments: “We are proud to have worked on this important project. The achievement of this agreement, despite the uncertainty linked to the COVID-19 pandemic which heavily hit the hospitality sector, confirms the positive sentiment and interest on the part of hotel operators in Italy, Puglia and in Salento, a town that aims to consolidate its image in hospitality both nationally and internationally. For Cushman & Wakefield this is the third operator selection in Puglia concluded in recent years after Acaya Golf Resort and Masseria Torre Maizza, the luxury brand of Rocco Forte Hotels.”
