Global Tech Cities: Chicago

Gregory Rogalla • 9/6/2022

The Catalyst

Chicago is the nation’s third-largest city and acts as a natural hub for innovation in the Midwest. As a leading business center, Chicago has the capital, labor and infrastructure to support the world’s top technology firms. The metropolitan area is home to top-ranked research universities such as the University of Chicago and Northwestern University which produce highly skilled talent. Global firms like Boeing, Motorola, and Salesforce have headquarters in Chicago, which support an ecosystem of innovation and collaboration among small startups and regional business leaders alike.

Quality of Life

Chicago offers the same level of amenities as other national tech hubs, with a significantly lower cost of living. Chicago boasts world-class museums, a robust public transportation system, and a variety of vibrant and unique urban neighborhoods and family-friendly suburbs sure to make everyone feel at home.

Tech Real Estate

The Fulton Market District is quickly becoming an international technology hub. The vibrant neighborhood is located within Chicago’s CBD and hosts a growing food and nightlife scene that attracts young, savvy workers driving Chicago’s tech scene. Its growing importance is evident in the ever-increasing number of top-tier office and lab facilities.
