Betty Castro Voted President-Elect of Commercial Real Estate Women (CREW) New York.

New York, NY – Cushman & Wakefield announced today that its own Betty Castro, Managing Principal of the real estate services firm’s Downtown office, has been elected President-Elect of Commercial Real Estate Women (CREW) New York for 2020. Castro has pledged herself to the three-year commitment to serve as President-Elect in 2020, President in 2021 and Past President in 2022.

“It is no surprise that Betty has been elected President-Elect of CREW New York, as she has committed herself to diversity and inclusion initiatives for years,” said Angela D’Aguanno, Americas Chair of Cushman & Wakefield’s Women’s Integrated Network and Chief Financial and Operating Officer for the Tri-State Region. “We are extremely proud of all of Betty’s accomplishments and we are confident she will continue to help women succeed in the real estate industry as President-Elect of CREW New York.”

CREW New York is dedicated to the advancement of professional women in commercial real estate through networking, education and leadership development. Currently, Castro is the head of the Legacy Leaders Committee and is heavily involved in the group’s diversity and inclusion initiatives. She will continue these responsibilities until she steps into the role of President-Elect in 2020, where she will shadow the next President, Allison Robin of Levien & Company. In 2021, Castro will assume the role of President, where she will oversee and guide CREW New York’s initiatives until 2022, when she will assume the role of Past President to mentor and assist the next President.

“We had a lot of great nominees for the 2020 slate and Betty stood out among them,” said Allison Robin, current President-Elect of CREW New York. “We knew that we had to take advantage of her enthusiasm to mentor women and make meaningful connections in the real estate industry. Betty has been a great addition to our board in 2019 and we are excited for her heightened commitment to CREW’s mission in the next three years.”

“The real estate industry is historically a male-dominated field, so I am incredibly proud to have been elected to lead a group that works diligently towards the advancement of women,” said Betty Castro, upcoming President-Elect of CREW New York and Managing Principal of Cushman & Wakefield’s downtown New York office. “I am committed to ensuring that CREW New York continues on a successful path and that women in the industry know that this resource is available to them.”

Castro was slated as President for 2021 by CREW New York’s nominating committee which includes 3 members of the executive board and two general members. The slate was then sent to all New York members who voted to elect Castro as President-Elect. Castro has been an active member of CREW New York since 2014 and has been with Cushman & Wakefield for 5 years.
