Our latest Experience per Square FootTM (XSF) findings about employee engagement have a happy surprise: Employees with less than a year of tenure have yet to set foot in an office or meet colleagues face-to-face – but they’re still doing very well. In fact, this “honeymooner” group is leading the pack with some of the highest XSF engagement scores of any tenure group! They report being able to connect with their peers, feeling productive when collaborating, and continuing to learn.
But thoughtful managers can also use XSF insights to bolster two areas where the lack of in-person interaction may be driving a lag. Lacking in-person interactions in their new roles, honeymooners report more difficulty than other groups when it comes to activating their networks and feeling a bond with colleagues.
