ST. LOUIS, March 4, 2024 – Cushman & Wakefield announced today that the St. Louis Area Council of the Boy Scouts of America has selected the firm to lead the Boys Scouts’ site selection efforts for a new location and market its Central West End regional offices.
For its new location, Cushman & Wakefield will work with the St. Louis Area Council to evaluate sites and facilities in St. Louis City and County that are available for sale or potential donation to the non-profit.
The Boy Scouts requirement calls for approximately 25,000 square feet that can support volunteer, family and organizational meetings and activities; the BSA Outfitters Scout Shop; and operations for initiatives such as the Scouts’ food drive, the largest one-day food drive in the Midwest, and Memorial Day flag-planting and beautification at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery.
Boy Scouts of America has been an institution in St. Louis since 1911 and located at the Central West End property at 4568 West Pine Blvd. since the early 1960s.
“Though our Central West End location has served us well, we’ve evolved and are looking for a facility able to serve and support today’s families, volunteers, and employees,” said Joe Sadewasser, Chief Executive Officer of the Greater St. Louis Area Council. “Modern facilities will help us meet the current and future needs of our 25,000 Missouri and Illinois scouts with additional technology, access, and meeting space as we work to further expand Scouting’s positive impact to more young people in the region.”
Added Cushman & Wakefield’s Mike Hanrahan, “Working with the Boy Scouts is an opportunity to both serve a great organization and support its growth and benefit our broader community. The Central West End site is especially compelling given the area’s residential renaissance and biotech cluster. What’s more, the search for a new Regional Council base may create an opportunity for property owners seeking the tax advantages a donation may provide.”
Cushman & Wakefield’s Hanrahan, Matthew Stephens and Jack Gentile are working with the Boy Scouts' Greater St. Louis Area Council.
