Charles R. Borrok is one of the highest-ranking brokerage professionals at Cushman & Wakefield. Having joined in 1992 and now serving as Executive Vice Chairman, Mr. Borrok has been involved in the leasing over 70 million square feet throughout the world and has been involved in the purchase and sale of many important properties.
In 1966, Mr. Borrok began his career at Wm. A. White & Sons, one of the oldest and largest real estate firms in New York becoming one of the four owners of the firm in 1978. In 1984, Mr. Borrok negotiated the purchase by Wm. A. White & Sons of Tishman East Management Company. In 1986 he and his partners sold Wm. A. White/Tishman East to Grubb & Ellis. Mr. Borrok served as President of the New York Metropolitan Region of Wm. A. White/Grubb & Ellis, where he was ranked as the number one broker in the company for six years until 1992 when he joined Cushman & Wakefield.
During Mr. Borrok’s career, he has specialized in negotiating some of the largest and most complicated sale, lease, and real estate development transactions in the world. He has represented clients in real estate transactions in Canada, Puerto Rico, England, Italy, Russia, India, Egypt, Korea, Japan, and the Philippines. Mr. Borrok has been involved in many successful government incentive and zoning negotiations.
At Cushman & Wakefield, in 1998 he was recognized as the top broker in the firm and in 2009 he was recognized as one of the top two brokers in the firm. In 2010, he was recognized as one of the ten top producing brokers at Cushman & Wakefield worldwide and as the leading broker in New York. In 2013, he continues to be one of the top brokers in the company.
A graduate of New York University, Mr. Borrok served as Executive Vice President of the Realty Foundation of New York. He is a past recipient of the Real Estate Board’s “Most Ingenious Deal of the Year” award in connection with the Royal Bank of Canada and has lectured at both the Real Estate Board of New York and the Real Estate Institute of New York University. He has served on the Leasing Brokers Committee of the Real Estate Board of New York. He was the recipient of the 2010 Most Creative Deal of the Year Award by the New Jersey Chapter of NAIOP. He was a member of the Board of the Citizens Budget Committee of New York.
Mr. Borrok plays an active role in the New York metropolitan community. He is currently on the Board of Junior Achievement of New York and on the Board of Directors of the New York Foundling Hospital. For many years, he served as a Member of the Board of Beth Israel Hospital, and the Board of Visitors of Columbia College. He was a Director of the 34th Street Partnership, and a Member of the Board of the New York City Police Foundation. Mr. Borrok was the Chairman of the Annual UJA/Federation of Jewish Philanthropies Campaign for the City of New York. As a Member of the Board of Long Island University, he received the William Zeckendorf Award for Excellence.
Mr. Borrok resides in New York City and has a son, an attorney, who is involved in the real estate investment business.
Some of Mr. Borrok’s most important clients include: Depository Trust and Clearing Corporation, WNET, JPMorgan Chase, UBS, Pfizer Inc., Tokio Marine Insurance Company, CBS, and CitiGroup.
Currently, Mr. Borrok is the agent for LeFrak properties at Newport, Jersey City, New Jersey.
Over the years, he acted as the agent for many of New York City’s important office buildings including 666 Fifth Avenue, 919 Third Avenue, 717 Third Avenue, Trump Tower, Tower 49, 55 East 59th Street, 100 Church Street, 40 Wall Street, the CBS Building, 75 Broad Street, and 1585 Broadway.
