Cushman & Wakefield has announced two key leadership appointments as part of its ongoing commitment to improved sustainability outcomes for its clients and the built environment.
Matthew Clifford appointed Head of Sustainability & ESG, Asia Pacific
Matthew Clifford has been announced as Head of Sustainability & ESG, Asia Pacific. Based in Sydney, Clifford will drive the business’s sustainability strategy within the region, leading a team of 60- plus sustainability and environment, social and governance (ESG) professionals providing advisory, certification, reporting and disclosure, and asset optimization services for investor and occupier clients.
Clifford will also chair the Asia Pacific Sustainability & ESG Operations Committee, and, through collaboration with his EMEA and Americas counterparts, further develop Cushman & Wakefield’s global sustainability proposition. Clifford commenced the role in January and reports to Asia Pacific Chief Executive Officer, Matthew Bouw.
Clifford has experience building and strengthening sustainability advisory teams across Asia Pacific, including the rapidly emerging Chinese, Indian and Japanese markets. Clifford also brings extensive experience regarding sustainability technology, business strategy, and M&A, and a passion for mentoring high performance teams across the globe.
Andrew Phipps appointed Global Head of Sustainability Thought Leadership
Reinforcing the firms’ commitment to market-leading sustainability insights and action, Andrew Phipps has been announced as Global Head of Sustainability Thought Leadership. Phipps, who is based in London, previously led the marketing and research functions for EMEA. In his new role, he will be responsible for driving the firm’s sustainability and ESG research and thought leadership proposition and output, working closely with both the research and marketing functions. Phipps commenced the newly-created role on February 1.
Cushman & Wakefield’s Chief Executive Officer, Asia Pacific, Matthew Bouw said the appointments reflected the firm’s ongoing investment in its sustainability capabilities:
“We are committed as a company to not only meeting our own carbon reduction targets, but to continually adapting and expanding our service offering to help our clients reach their own sustainability goals. “Matt’s long career in real estate sustainability reflects his personal passion for driving carbon reduction and environmental improvements within the built environment, while establishing a single, global point of contact for sustainability thought leadership is a clear indication of the importance sustainability has for our Cushman & Wakefield colleagues and clients, and for the sector as a whole.
“Both Matt and Andrew bring great passion and experience to their new roles. We are excited to welcome Matt to the company and to continue working with Andrew to make an impact on the sustainability outcomes for commercial real estate.”
