Cushman & Wakefield Appoints EMEA Sustainability Services Lead
03/11/2022
London, 2 October 2022 – Real estate services firm Cushman & Wakefield has appointed Darren Berman as Head of Sustainability Services EMEA, based in London.
Berman will lead Cushman & Wakefield’s EMEA-wide sustainability services platform which is dedicated to supporting the real estate sector in its transition to net zero carbon, helping it to manage climate related and wider ESG risks; and delivering improvements in the socio-economic impacts it has.
Following his engineering degree, Berman started his career in strategy consulting. After completing his MBA and Masters in Sustainable Development, he went on to lead the sustainability consulting practices at CBRE and then JLL. Berman joins Cushman & Wakefield from renewable energy start up Naked Energy, where he held the role of Commercial Director, with a focus on developing commercial and business development plans.
Darren Berman, Head of Sustainability Services EMEA at Cushman & Wakefield, said: “What we do now and over the coming few years will have profound effects for decades to come. It is clear that immediate and drastic cuts in carbon are needed, that the transition we are embarking upon must be equitable; and that real estate will be at the heart of the challenge. I look forward to working with the depth of talent across Cushman & Wakefield and its EMEA-wide sustainability team to support our clients to deliver meaningful impact in this, the decisive decade.”
James Maddock, Head of Occupier Services EMEA at Cushman & Wakefield, said: “Darren’s appointment underlines Cushman & Wakefield’s commitment to sustainability and delivering a positive impact. The challenge and the opportunity for us is immense. Darren’s depth of experience in the sector, of building up teams, and guiding clients through complex sustainability strategies will play a vital role in realising the opportunities ahead.”
In September 2021, Cushman & Wakefield set itself ambitious science-based targets to reduce greenhouse emissions and committed to partnering with clients to achieve net zero emissions across its entire value chain by 2050. Read more here.
