Allen & Overy: new head office and re-branding in Madrid

01 The Opportunity
Over the past 25 years, Allen & Overy has become one of the leading law firms in Spain, offering innovative, high-quality counsel throughout the country. With offices in Madrid and Barcelona, in 2016 they decided to make changes to their strategy and reposition the brand within the Spanish market. This change required a search for new head offices in Madrid, for which they engaged the Cushman & Wakefield Office Agency team.
At no. 73, Calle Serrano, they found an emblematic office building for lease within the exclusive District of Salamanca. A head office that would help them to emphasise their new identity. For the management of the entire project, with a modern, functional design and architecture, the C&W Project & Development Services team was engaged, not only to manage the entire project, but also advise the owner throughout the refurbishment works.
A space with a great deal of thought put into the comfort of their main priority - clients. The change to and improvement of the image were, however, not the only goals.

02 The Solution
In line with new workspace trends, such as Workplace Strategy, they wished to develop a space that improved communications and the work of employees in order to attract and retain talent. A workplace with emblematic spaces and high specifications that reflect this change to the image and style of the business.

Allen & Overy is a long-standing partner and the coordinated work with our Project & Development Services department was straightforward from the outset. From the very beginning, our team understood the changing needs and evolution of the client and what the business was expecting of this new head office in Madrid.
The utmost degree of collaboration between the two was essential to achieving the best outcome. In order to achieve success, the PDS team was fully implicated in the management and coordination of the entire project in tandem with the client and the owner (who was also carrying out refurbishment works in the building): from the selection of interior design firms, engineering, contracting, supervision of the façade restoration and up to the coordination of the building restaurant.
03 The Result
A fully renovated office building located in the heart of Madrid on the iconic street of Calle Serrano, giving an image that perfectly mirrors the values and new identity of the sole tenant. The high degree of visibility and the large logo permitted by the façade leave no doubt as to who occupies this exceptional building.
Better equipped spaces with a brightly lit, more modern design with all comforts. Extensive provision of meeting rooms and a large agora for the training sessions, meetings and events that are so important to Allen & Overy.
