O Canada! A Major Player On The Global Stage

2/1/2019
Toronto is recognized by economists as one of the most livable cities across the globe. As Canada’s largest city, Toronto celebrates its diverse, rich culture.

Cool Streets Toronto

The city is open for business all year round as its infrastructure is designed to function and prosper on a cold, snowy February day, as well as a humid heat wave in August. In short, we take “cool streets” to a whole new level – both in hipness and weather. The demand for space in the city often referred to as ‘The 6ix’ by one of our most beloved city ambassadors, Drake (you all know him, right?) is at an all-time high and our predictions show it will only continue to rise over the next decade.

Neighborhood amenities, particularly community and multicultural, continue to play a vital role in the transformation of the city. Its uniqueness is stemmed from being a tolerant and acceptant society, thus very attractive for global investors and entrepreneurs. With the diversity of the city’s population— global influences of pan-Asian, East Indian, Caribbean, and European descents— cultures are proudly woven throughout the streets, stores, restaurant cuisines and more importantly, talent in the workplace. So, it’s not surprising that 47 percent of Torontonians speak a mother tongue other than the country’s native English or French.

Being a millennial hot spot, Toronto’s urban setting fosters the “work-life” blur convention that attracts top talent and resources to the city. Torontonians love professional sports, outdoor festivals, academia, arts and literature, emerging technologies, nightlife, and shopping – all year round. They value creative, quality food and truly appreciate having a wide variety of dining options that they can easily walk to or is just a short commute away.

To put it bluntly— Torontonians value “cool.”

GTA Industrial Market Insights

This year kicked off with a shift in gears for the GTA’s industrial market. Overall vacancy inched up by 20 basis points (bps) to 1.1% on the heels of six straight quarters below the one percent mark. The uptick was due in large part to the addition of new vacancies from the older stock of less efficient buildings.
