WORKDAY: NEW OFFICES IN THE TORRE ESPACIO, CASTELLANA

Workday is one of the world’s leading cloud-based business management software firms.

1 The Opportunity

Its methods may be summarised as the application of three design principles: the Power of One philosophy, finding inspiration in Internet consumption and continuous evolution.

Due to the expansion of its division in Spain, the firm decided to change the location of its Madrid head office and relocate to the Torre Espacio within the four towers business area (CTBA) in the north of the city. In order to achieve this, it engaged the services of Cushman & Wakefield’s Office Agency and Project & Development Services teams.

2 The Solution

At the beginning of September 2019 and with the assistance of our Office Agency team, Workday’s new offices in Madrid were opened on the 21st floor of the Torre Espacio.

Everything in this office concept revolves around employee well-being and a horizontal structure with no hierarchy with respect to space.

All of the workstations are raiseable to provide the maximum degree of ergonomic comfort to employees. The open plan area is situated within an exceptional corner of the tower that makes the most of natural lighting and excellent views. Significant prominence is given to the cafe/play area, both in terms of the location and the square metres assigned. Due to the importance that employees attach to the area, the new location represents a departure from the previous model in which this was relegated to a smaller, interior and more secondary space.

3 The Results

The main goal was to develop a space in which Workday’s philosophy would be harmoniously conveyed in the workspace. Conceived as an office in which employee well-being would be at the heart of decision-making and around which everything else would revolve, Workday’s new head office in Spain properly achieves this goal. An ecosystem that has an immediate impact upon interaction with it, creating a differentiating experience in everyone who comes into contact. It is the result of the high degree of integration of our transformative forces: Office Agency and Project & Development Services.
