Tom O'Brien has dedicated the majority of his 19-year career in commercial real estate to the sale of investment real estate. He has sold nearly $3 billion of real estate during that time, representing both institutional clients and private investors. Mr. O’Brien’s considerable transaction volume is clearly indicative of his reputation and success within the industry.
In 1992, Mr. O’Brien joined Trammell Crow Company and shortly thereafter moved to The Shelard Group to focus on investment sale brokerage. In 1997, he joined forces with Terry Kingston as a principal with First Capital LLC. Their partnership quickly established First Capital as a market leader in institutional investment real estate services. Today, he is widely recognized as one of the top investment professionals in the Twin Cities. Throughout his career, Mr. O’Brien has had the opportunity to represent such prominent clients as Opus, Duke Realty Corp., Equity Office Properties, First Industrial, GE Capital, ING Clarion, Invesco, Principal Capital Management, Prudential, The RREEF Funds, Trizec, and Zeller Holdings Corp.

Mr. O’Brien is often a featured speaker in industry presentations and has served as an instructor in the University of St. Thomas mini-MBA program. Mr. O’Brien was recognized as a member of the 2007 class of The Minneapolis/St. Paul Business Journal’s “Forty Under 40.” He is an active member of the National Association of Industrial and Office Properties (NAIOP), the Minnesota Commercial Area Realtors® (MNCAR), and the Minnesota Commercial Property Exchange (MCPE).
